TOVE JANSSON'S THE BOOK ABOUT MOOMIN, MYMBLE AND LITTLE MY TO BE PUBLISHED AS eBOOK FOR TABLETS

WSOY will publish in collaboration with Fudeco Games Oy a beautifully animated eBook version of Tove Jansson's beloved picture book, The Book About Moomin, Mymble and Little My at the Bologna Children's Book Fair in March 2012. A global licensing agreement on the project for all language versions has been reached between WSOY, Fudeco Games Oy, Bulls Presstjänst AB and Moomin Characters Oy. The eBook will be part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of the classic, which was first published in 1952.

"The aim is to create a world-class electronic picture book which respects the spirit of the original publication that has fascinated readers generation after generation," says Lippo Luukkonen, publisher at WSOY Children's Books and Young Adult Fiction. "We are positive that the publishers of Moomin titles around the world will be enthusiastic about the new project, as it will bring the original imagery and text into a completely new environment, on a new publishing platform."

"We will release applications supported at least by the iPad and Android tablets, and in the future also other tablets and smartphones, utilising the platform we have now developed," say Kimmo Alaniska, CEO of Fudeco Games Oy. "Our entire production team involved in the graphic design and coding for this project has been absolutely thrilled to be able create an animated eBook from a classic masterpiece such as this," Alaniska says.

"We have investigated numerous eBook projects offered to us from aboard, but the Finnish concept was in a class of its own – great design and most importantly, it is faithful to the original," says Roleff Kråkström, Managing Director of Moomin Characters Oy.
